Life’s Better with Leather

Hubby read about something called vinegaroon and we both felt extremely skeptical at first.  It promised to be a black leather dye alternative that we could make with simple household ingredients for literal pennies.

Either you know exactly what I’m talking about when I say O-ring belt, or you have absolutely no clue. If you don’t know, it’s one of those belts that fastens with nothing but a single ring on one end of the belt.

One of my most popular bookmarks this year features a hand stamped scorpion. As I was making a couple of these guys this week, I decided I wanted to share with you all my stamping process.

Stick barrettes are versatile enough be used for anything from business casual to a night on the town. A question I often receive, is how to use these barrettes. Their simple design doesn’t work quite like a typical snap, claw, or French barrette. This does, however, allow hair slides to hold a decent amount of hair without being bulky or uncomfortable.

It is vital to the longevity of your quality leather pieces to make sure you know how to properly care for them. Given the right treatment leather items can become heirlooms passed down for generations.

I know what you’re thinking, isn’t the middle of March a little late to be talking New Year’s journal prompts?  It is, BUT if you’re anything like me your creativity has begun petering out.  Maybe you’re a seasoned veteran at journaling, dutifully writing at the end of each day, but that’s not me. 

I have so many leatherworking tools in my shop, I’m not even sure I could count them all.  It’s taken me these past seven years to amass this hoard of tools, many of which have become godsends when it comes to working more quickly and efficiently.
